Crisis Averted

A few minutes ago, Seth was in the high chair, happily for quite a long time. He was enjoying some Raisin Bran Crunch...actually, just the raisins. He kept messing with his nose and sticking his finger in it (typical for most of my kids, not for him:). I got a sinking feeling that there might be something up there, and sure enough, there was a little raisin up there.

This has happened before, but this time, it was so far up I wasn't going to be able to get it. I tried to make him blow his nose, but to no avail. So, I began to freak out. I have no desire to go to the ER, especially with 2 kids who were up with the flu all night. I called George, and he Googled it for me to see what I should do:) I was out in the car first aid kit digging for tweezers when George finds the answer.

"Plug the unobstructed nostril, and cover baby's mouth with yours and blow." Sounded pretty gross to me, but it also sounded lots cheaper and less scary for baby than the ER, so I headed inside to enlist kids to help me with this endeavor. Natalie and Levi are running around the house yelling my name (isn't it amazing how unobservant kids are sometimes? I am sure both of them watched me walk into the garage). I was a little worried, and then Natalie said, "I got it out!" She had! She had somehow gotten Seth to blow his nose and out came the raisin. Then, she had found her gloves, put them on, and carefully carried that nasty raisin to the trash. :P
The past 12 hours have been a little TOO eventful for me!

So the flu huh? Like throwing up? Does this mean we are in for it? :)

Hi, Anna...You don't know me, but I started following you on here when I saw that you are (like me) a busy mom of 4. :) I have been struggling with keeping a home and have found lots of great SAHM's and moms with large families online that have given such great advice on how to get through this thing called "life".

Once I saw all was well, I had to giggle a little. This so sounds like something that would happen here. Plus, I have one home sick today with symptoms of flu. So I totally hear where you are coming from!

Anyway, hope your day improves!

Way to go Natalie! Awesome big sister :) Glad you didn't need to go to the ER. Did you read about Logan's bean?

Quite the post! I was in such suspense, that I started laughing so hard! What would we do without Google? Natalie has hidden talents I tell ya. She's an amazing girl.

I am grateful I have not yet come across this. No doubt it will be Simon to do this to me. But I am glad Nat was able to help out. She will be a great Mommy!!
