Potty Training week....

Or not. We started on Saturday and it was ok...3 in the potty, 3 on the floor at about 3pm. I had thrown away the poopy underwear. Anyway, then I left to get groceries which took me longer than usual because it wasn't my usual store. When I pulled in, George came out to meet me and said he had followed all of my directions and the little guy had still peed on the floor 4 times! Ugh. So we skipped Sunday. He woke up this morning talking about it so we are on the train again. So far, we're 1 and 1 (again with the throwing away poopy underwear). Is this really worth it? Is he even ready? Amazing how this is kid #4 and potty-training still baffles me!

good luck! i did kid #1 and kid #2 at the same time. i don't remember it being as hard as kid #3!! She will stop mid-stream if it is going down her leg but will not put it in the potty!!! 3 is just around the corner in April and she's got me baffled!!

I don't think I've ever commented, but I like your blog because you are so much like me! :) My first was potty-trained by my mother-in-law and my 2nd was 4 before she was fully trained. Number 3 trained herself (she literally told me the day after Thanksgiving "No, I don't want them anymore"...and had one accident and no more.) But with my 4th (and the first boy, no less) I was beside myself. Finally I figured he'd do it when he was ready and he did! At barely 3 years old, even. It's a struggle and it totally differs with each child. Hang in there!

Diaper companies don't want Mom's to know this but it's not really about whether the child is ready but whether the Mom is ready. Hispanic Mom's potty train at 18 months because of culture and financial reasons. Hispanic children take the same amount of time to potty train at 18 months as other children take at older ages. So it's not about child readiness. It's more about whether the Mom is ready to devote the time to it than whether the child is ready. But diaper companies have put a lot of money into advertising about the child's readiness...Dr. Greene(potty training guru) is totally working for a diaper company. Diaper companies make more money the longer they can keep kiddos in diapers. So if your not ready, wait. If you are tired of changing poo and want to save some bucks, go for it. The good thing about Doctor Greene's popularity.... all Mom's have bought into the idea that a child can be four and not potty trained. There is no longer peer pressure from other Moms:) I personally prefer to potty train in the winter while we are stuck at home. Summer is hard because we are always at the pool and being wet is confusing for them. Best of Luck which ever way you go. I love the pic of him with the camera. Too cute!!!

I don't know how you do it but for my boys I always have them sit to even pee and that seemed to cut out the poo accidents all together with Leo. Hope that helps. Good luck. Oh and Leos bribe was a piece of candy (after Halloween) and he was going like every 5 min!
